You'd be hard pressed to find a more sought-after jazz drummer than Jonathan Pinson in the contemporary music scene. He returns to Seattle as a bandleader with his genre-bending Boom Clap band. The collaboration between Open Form and The Goodbye Look has been incredibly special so far, and we're thrilled to present the Boom Clap Quintet as our next show in the series.
At just 23 years old, Jonathan joined the touring ensemble of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, and since then has toured and recorded with a laundry list of contemporary greats like Mark Turner, Gerald Clayton, Ambrose Akinmusire, Braxton Cook, Kamasi Washington, Seal, and more.
Jonathan always brings an infectious and palpable joy to the stage alongside his world class mastery of the drums, where he makes the conversational improvisation of jazz seem effortless.
The evening features two live performances, with time between sets to gather, have a drink, and enjoy the space.
Wine, beer, coffee, tea + non-alcoholic beverages will be available throughout the evening.
Come over. Stay awhile.
